9/11 Memorial

Waited in the rain to see the 9/11 memorial. So poignant and somber. A perfect way to honor them.

Fun, full day!

Today we met up with Grandpa and Grammy in Times Square. Max and Heather rode the ferris wheel in toys r us while mom and grammy pissed off Elvis. We walked to Grand Central Station to look around, then grabbed a subway toEllens Stardust Diner where we met cousin Lisa and Carson. So much fun! Max had a moment of fame and we all enjoyedthe entertainment while we ate. Rain is in tomorrow's forcast, so we decided to do the statue of liberty today.  All in all, a fantastic day of sight seeing and beautiful weather!

What nots

So far we are loving NYC. Yesterday we got our driver from newark to manhattan gave us an impromptu tour. He was great and shares lots of stories, including his 9/11 experience. He reccomended Carnegie Deli for lunch. They were tealy good. Huge portions to match the prices, but a very New York-y joint. Loads of celebrity pictures on the wall. Complimentary pickles, and an 82 year old waitress. Today we lost grandma Y twice. Grandma m had gone back to the room in leiu of hitting the museums ndshe  took grandma Y's phone. So when grandma Y went wandering we couldn't find her. This really stressed Max out, but it all turned out ok. Hoping the rain holds off tomorrow. Grandpa and Grammy just got into town, and going to meet h's cousin for lunch!

Museum and Central Park day!

Lots of fun stuff today. Started with a walk down 5th Ave to the Plaza hotel, then a stroll in Central park to the MET. A New York hotdog for lunch then over to the Natural History Museum. Max loved it here! After all that walking we grabbed a taxi back to the room and ordered some NY style pizza. We are loving it here and having a blast!

The Big Apple

Up at 2:45 this morning and in Manhattan in time for lunch at Carnegie Deli. When we checked into our hotel, we were greeted by a surprise gift from Heather's cousin Lisa. Lots of NY themed snacks for us. The grandma's took Max to FAO Schwartz while Heather and I took care of getting the liscence. Then we headed to the MOMA and got to see our first Frida Kahlo, Starry night and many other renowned works of art. It was awesome. Then we grabbed some awesome Medditeranean food from the halal guys foodcart. Now we are ready to turn in and rest so we are ready for more fun tomorrow.

Green day

Well, here we are at Lambert airport. It's "green day" which means every army enlistee in the tri state area is flying home from the same airline and airport that we are. So we weren't the only ones who got up at 2:30 this morning!
