Acadia NP

Today was totally amazing. Heather rented us bikes and we spent the day trail riding the old carriage roads in Acadia. The Rockfeller's funded preservation of this road system of 48 miles to be used only by horses, people and bikes. We climbed a mountain side and saw a beautiful ocean view. And we stopped at multiple lakes and enjoyed the breeze, the birds and the fall colors. We saw old arched bridges and the stables and stopped at the Jordan Pond House for a picnic on the shores of Jordan Pond. Then we headed back to our cottage and picked up mom to go to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. The lobster bouy's are everywere in the bay! But after yesterday, we opted for a Latin American restaurant called Bub's Burrito's. 🤌🏼 SO GOOD! Our waiter told us about a cool trail called Compass Harbor, so we snuck in one last hike before we head south tomorrow. Hopefully we will make it back one day, because there is still a ton of stuff to do.

Thunder Hole in Acadia

The sound of the wave in the casm sounded like thunder, then the rocks clattering together soundedike lightening. It was pretty cool.

Baby Boulder Hiking in the Green Mounts.

This was an exhausting hike. The Granite state produces granite boulders everywhere. But we did not injure ourselves! 🎉🙌🏼

Bah Habah (Bar Harbor)

Today we rolled into Maine through a town called Gilead. Of course we had to get a picture. And we checked a big one off the bucket list. I got my National Park Passport stamped at Acadia National Park! I have had it for 31 years and have stamps from every region now. I didn't get to stamp it on New Hampshire because of the shut down (FDT) but Acadia is large enough and busy enough it is sort of open. And I did get some stamps. 🥰 We also got to see Sand Beach and Thunder hole in the park. Tomorrow, Heather and I are biking the old carriage roads in the park. No cars! Just bikes. 🚴🏼
We also had Lobster tonight. Because when in Maine, right? 🦞 It was an awesome, chill spot and had great outdoor seating with a brewery vibe. They boiled the lobster and brought it to you on a dish. When I lifted it to twist off a claw, it weighed about 10 pounds and water leaked out everywhere. Then, when I cracked it, this thick white gross stuff was all over the meat. Now, this will sound weird, but I don't love to eat anything that lives in water, and Heather doesn't love lobster. But we really tried to like it. In the end, mom was happy because she got ALL the lobster! 😂 We will probably try a lobster roll instead next time. 🤷🏽
can't really smile in front of a Gilead sign when it feels like we may be living it. 😡

White Mountain Fun

The White Mountains are beautiful! And packed with trails to do. They have loads of outdoor fun for all four seasons. Aside from the Kanc, the state parks of Franconia Notch and Crawford Notch are amazing. We found a National Forest campground called cover bridge and it looks so serene. We hiked two trails that were so quiet and full of color and some birds and the cutest little red squirrels. One was Chambey Falls and the other was a loop around a pond at the Lower Falls. Tomorrow we head to Maine!
