Highway 1 day and beachfront room.
Today we drove Highway 1 from Bar Harbor to Old Orchard Beach. We stopped at a couple of lighthouses. The first one was a mile put in the ocean and we had to walk the breaker rocks to get to it. A Coastie told us the pathway was 100 feet deep at the point it meets the light house. It was one of the coolest light house experiences we have had. We also stopped at the flagship store for LL Bean in Freeport. They have a whole campus there. We traveled through many charming villages on our route, including Camden, which has been the set of someovies and TV shows, including the 1980's soap opera Passions. The quirky one about witches for those who remember the 80s. There were also so many gorgeous marshes on our drive. Heather kept asking if I was sure it wasn't a National or a State Park. It isn't, but it should be. We finally checked into our oceanfront home for the next three nights in time to see the rise of the harvest moon over theocean. The pictures I am posting do not do New England justice. It is SO beautiful here.
