Portland ME day
Today started with a walk on the beach between rain showers. As always, the Ocean does not disappoint. We walked to the pier and saw crabs, sand dollars, clams, kelp and shell fragments. It was a great way to start the day. We headed into Portland to try a bakery called Two Fat Cats for breakfast and to finally get some famous Maine Blueberry pie. It was pretty good, but I was bummed to find there were no cats. Heather did share her pie with us. She has come so far!😂 We did a little souvenir shopping and checked out the art museum, then took a harbor tour. The Portland Art Museum has a lot of Homer Winslow pieces, as he worked and died here. They also had works by Cassat, Picasso, Stuart Gilbert, Monet, Surratt, Degas, Frederick Church, Elizabeth Catlett and Thomas Moran. And the exhibition was by David Driscoll, who had some great pieces. In the harbor tour, we added 4 more lighthouses to our trip along with a fort, some harbor seals, and the Berlin Wall. I think probably it was shipped, because walls don't swim. We stopped for a hike in the salt marsh on our way back to the hotel. It was an awesome day. Here are some pics.
